A trilogy bout between Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena will headline UFC 289 in Vancouver on June 10, UFC president Dana White announced Friday, according to TSN's Aaron Bronsteter.
Nunes defeated Pena via unanimous decision in July at UFC 277 to recapture the women's bantamweight title. "The Lioness," who's also the women's featherweight champion, dominated their latest meeting and shut out Pena on the scorecards.
Pena previously upset Nunes with a second-round submission to win the belt in December 2021 at UFC 269. The 33-year-old is currently the No. 1-ranked contender in the women's bantamweight division.
No fighter in history has defeated Nunes twice in MMA competition.
UFC 289 will be the promotion's first event in Canada since 2019.
