Brian Ortega will take on Yair Rodriguez in a sequel bout as the co-main event of UFC Mexico City on Feb. 24, 2024, UFC CEO Dana White announced Thursday.

It will be a five-round fight as opposed to the standard three.

The featherweights previously fought in July 2022, where Rodriguez earned the win via TKO in the first round when Ortega dislocated his arm while defending an armbar attempt. Rodriguez, 31, landed 48 of 76 strike attempts in the victory compared to Ortega's 26 of 39.

Ortega, 32, brings a 15-3-0 record into the matchup. "T-City" hasn't fought since last year's loss to Rodriguez.

Meanwhile, Rodriguez has entered the Octagon twice since then, submitting Josh Emmett to claim the interim featherweight title in February before losing by TKO in a unification title bout against Alexander Volkanovski in July. Those fights bring Rodriguez's career record to 16-4-0.

White also named Brandon Moreno's fight against Amir Albazi the main event for UFC Mexico City on Thursday.
