UFC welterweight contender Colby Covington wasn't impressed with Ian Machado Garry's latest performance.

Covington called Garry's unanimous decision win over Michael "Venom" Page at UFC 303 "pathetic."

"That guy's fighting the No. 14 guy in the world and barely scraping by," Covington told Submission Radio. "I think he lost the fight. ... It just shows how much of a bum he is."

Covington added: "I feel bad for the fans. The fans got robbed of a pay-per-view opener."

Garry, ranked No. 7 at 170 pounds, relied on his grappling to outpoint Page in a back-and-forth fight this past weekend in Las Vegas. The undefeated Irishman is now 8-0 in the UFC.

There were rumors that a fight between Covington and Garry was in the works for UFC 303, but it never came to fruition. Covington hasn't stepped into the Octagon since breaking his foot in a unanimous decision loss to welterweight champion Leon Edwards at UFC 296 last December.

Covington said it's clear why the promotion didn't elevate Garry-Page to co-main event of its annual International Fight Week pay-per-view after several matchups were canceled.

"I thought Ian Garry was a big name," Covington said. "What happened? They had their co-main events fall through six or seven times. There was a guy who was already on the card - why couldn't he get bumped up to co-main event? I guess that show us what the UFC thinks about the guy - that the guy is an absolute nobody and he's a bum and he has no reason to talk about anything."
