UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones still hasn't made up his mind about whether he'll hang up the gloves after defending his title against Stipe Miocic later in 2024.

Jones said Monday in a post on X that he'll plan his future around how he performs in his next fight.

A surefire UFC Hall of Famer and one of the greatest fighters of all time, Jones has hinted over the last year that his next fight could be his last.

The 36-year-old was scheduled to face Miocic last November at UFC 295 before suffering a torn pectoral muscle that required surgery. The Miocic fight is likely to be rescheduled for the annual Madison Square Garden event this November, though the promotion hasn't announced a date yet.

Despite the retirement talk, Jones has also expressed interest in a superfight with Alex Pereira, the UFC light heavyweight champion. Pereira defended his title for the second time at UFC 303 this past weekend, knocking out Jiri Prochazka in the second round. Pereira said after the victory he expects he'll move up to heavyweight in the future.

There's also a lot of interest throughout the MMA world in a bout between Jones and interim heavyweight champ Tom Aspinall, though Jones hasn't been overly keen on giving Aspinall an opportunity to unify the titles.

Jones was a longtime 205-pound champion before capturing heavyweight gold in March 2023. The New York native defended the light heavyweight belt 11 times between 2011 and 2020.
