Report: UFC contenders Almeida, Spivac to fight in January
UFC heavyweight contenders Jailton Almeida and Serghei Spivac are expected to fight each other Jan. 18, 2025, sources told Nolan King and Farah Hannoun of MMA Junkie.
The three-round bout will reportedly be part of the UFC's second event in 2025. A location hasn't been reported.
Almeida - the No. 6 UFC heavyweight - has won seven of his eight fights since making his UFC debut in 2022, with his only defeat coming to Curtis Blaydes in March. The 33-year-old Brazilian bounced back from that loss with a submission win over Alexander Romanov at UFC 302 in June.
Spivac is the seventh-ranked heavyweight. He made his most recent Octagon appearance in August, submitting Marcin Tybura to get back into the win column after a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane in September 2023.
