Former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman announced his retirement Friday during the promotion's weigh-in show.

"I'm hanging up the gloves in the UFC," Weidman said. "I'm no longer going to be fighting for the organization."

The 40-year-old most recently suffered a loss to Eryk Anders by TKO at UFC 310 in December. Weidman went 1-3 in his last four Octagon appearances.

Weidman fought twice in 2024 and earned his first win in almost four years after defeating Bruno Silva in March. The victory was also Weidman's first since he broke his leg 17 seconds into an April 2021 fight against Uriah Hall.

Weidman posted a 16-8 record after debuting in the UFC in 2011. He notably won his first nine fights in the promotion in a streak that included a knockout win over MMA legend Anderson Silva to capture the middleweight belt, a title Weidman held from 2013-15. He eventually lost the middleweight championship to Luke Rockhold in December 2015.
