Report: Gastelum-Pyfer rebooked for UFC 316
The middleweight bout between Kelvin Gastelum and Joe Pyfer has been rescheduled for UFC 316 on June 7 in Newark, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.
Gastelum and Pyfer were slated to meet at UFC Mexico City on March 29, but Pyfer withdrew on the day of the event after coming down with an illness.
Gastelum is coming off a unanimous decision win over Daniel Rodriguez last June. The former interim title challenger is 2-1 in his past three Octagon appearances.
Pyfer, a top 185-pound prospect, is seeking his second straight victory after knocking out Marc-Andre Barriault last summer. The 28-year-old holds a 4-1 record in the promotion.
UFC 316 will feature a bantamweight title rematch between champion Merab Dvalishvili and former champ Sean O'Malley.
