- UFC 189 was the Conor McGregor show. The impossibly brash, delightfully bombastic Irishman justified some of the hype, capturing the interim featherweight title with a stirring come-from-behind victory over three-time title challenger Chad Mendes.
- Next stop on McGregor's world domination tour: a date with Jose Aldo. The true featherweight champion, Aldo should be plenty healed from a rib injury in time for a rumored supercard in December at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
- After three failed attempts to snatch the title, Mendes will have to go back to the drawing board, though a bout against former lightweight titlist Frankie Edgar would make a lot of sense. That is, if Edgar, a winner of four in a row, isn't waiting patiently for a title shot.
- Max Holloway will be looking to take a leap into the division's top five when he faces venomous finisher Charles Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 74 on Aug. 23. The 23-year-old Holloway is riding a six-fight winning streak, while "Do Bronx" has racked up four victories in a row.
