- Conor McGregor could not be denied. The impossibly brash Irishman did exactly what he said he'd do at UFC 194, needing a mere 13 seconds and a single, devastating left hand to dethrone longtime division kingpin Jose Aldo.
- Conventional wisdom suggests Frankie Edgar is next in line for a shot at McGregor's title. Unfortunately, conventional wisdom doesn't reign supreme in the UFC. With McGregor contemplating a move up to lightweight, Edgar's shellacking of Chad Mendes at the TUF 22 Finale may not earn Edgar the next crack at the "Notorious" one. It does, however, make him the clear-cut No. 1 contender at 145 pounds.
- Perhaps the best prospect at featherweight, Max Holloway continues to prove his mettle inside the Octagon. The 24-year-old Hawaiian is on an eight-fight winning streak that could have him knocking on the door of title contention at some point in 2016.
- Charles Oliveira was technically one of the hateful eight Holloway rolled over during his impressive streak, but his loss was the result of a esophageal ailment. "Do Bronx" bounced back from that injury-marred loss with an impressive submission win over Myles Jury, though he did badly miss weight prior to the fight.
