Watch: Tire flies over fence in terrifying crash at Indy 500
A disaster was narrowly averted Sunday at the Indianapolis 500 when a tire cleared the fence in a terrifying crash involving Felix Rosenqvist and Kyle Kirkwood.
Rosenqvist hit the wall and spun out after being passed by Josef Newgarden. As his McLaren Chevrolet came back on track, he tagged the left rear tire of Kirkwood. The collision sent the wheel flying over the fence and Kirkwood into the wall, with the impact of the crash turning his car upside down.
