NBA Game Summary - Oklahoma City at LA Lakers
Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Serge Ibaka had 18 points and 14 rebounds as the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 108-101 on Sunday.
Russell Westbrook sat out for Oklahoma City after suffering a fracture of his right cheek during Friday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Westbrook, who was in the midst of recording three straight triple-doubles, took an inadvertent knee to the face from teammate Andre Roberson in the closing seconds of Friday's loss and was clearly shaken up. He stayed in the game but was taken to a Portland hospital afterwards.
D.J. Augustin posted 18 points, nine boards and five assists, while Enes Kanter added 16 points and 15 rebounds for the Thunder, who had lost two straight coming in on the heels of a seven-game winning streak.
"I thought D.J. did a good job of stepping in," OKC coach Scott Brooks said. "Russell's been on a great level."
Jeremy Lin led the Lakers with 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds.
"I thought offensively we did some good things," Lakers coach Byron Scott said. "We had a lot of great shots that we just didn't knock down."
After a Ryan Kelly 3-pointer clawed the Lakers within 74-69 late in the third quarter, the Thunder closed the frame on a 10-3 run.
Darren Collison sparked the surge with a three-point play and Ibaka capped it by tipping in his layup miss for an 84-72 cushion.
LA never cut the deficit below six in the fourth.
Earlier, Roberson nailed a pair of triples as OKC raced out to a 9-2 start before leading 28-19 following a quarter of play.
Augustin knocked down a triple at the first-half horn to stake the Thunder to a 56-48 advantage at the break.
