NBA Game Summary - Houston at Utah
Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Rudy Gobert had another monster outing to help the Utah Jazz rout the Houston Rockets, 109-91, on Thursday night.
Gobert, who grabbed a career-high 24 rebounds in a win at Memphis on March 3, contributed a career-high 19 points and 22 rebounds against the Rockets.
Gordon Hayward paced Utah with 29 points and Rodney Hood had a career-high 20 points.
"On the defensive end, we get stops and we get out in transition, that's a big plus for us as a team. When we knock down shots it's going to be hard to beat us," Hood said.
The Jazz won their season-high fourth straight game and seventh in their last eight.
Corey Brewer went for a team-high 25 points off the bench in the loss, while James Harden was limited to 15 points on 3-of-13 shooting.
"They just dominated the paint. We couldn't make a jump shot for a while there. They played well, dominated the glass. We had nothing for them," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said.
Utah jumped out to an 11-4 over the first four-plus minutes of the first quarter, then it later extended the margin to 12 on a Hayward 3-pointer.
Houston, which has lost two straight, went on a 9-0 run moments later to cut the deficit to 24-21, and the Jazz brought a five-point edge into the second.
The Rockets went scoreless for over three minutes midway through the second, but Utah could not take much of an advantage as Joe Ingles' jumper pushed the Jazz up 40-34. Hayward's free throws closed the half with under a second on the clock to give the hosts a 53-43 lead.
Ingles canned a 3-pointer with under 3 1/2 minutes left in the third that stretched Utah's margin to 22 and it cruised the rest of the way to extend its winning streak.
