Aldridge dismisses trade rumblings, says he's happy in San Antonio
LaMarcus Aldridge wanted to clear the air after his name was bandied about in trade rumors over the past week.
The 30-year-old power forward went on The Jim Rome Show to clarify that, contrary to reports, he is happy as a member of the San Antonio Spurs.
"Yeah for sure I am," Aldridge said. "We made history last year. They've incorporated me into the family. Try to make me one of the big pieces."
Reports surfaced this week that San Antonio might look to move Aldridge by the end of the year. Separate reports painted him as being upset with his current role - playing second fiddle to superstar wing Kawhi Leonard.
For his part, Aldridge said his relationship with head coach Gregg Popovich is strong, and that his coach has not communicated concerns.
"I didn't buy into it. I haven't heard anything about it. I talked to Pop daily and he's always telling me that I'm doing great," Aldridge said. "Trying to be a more of a leader. He's put me in positions where I can be more of a leader. As long as the guys here aren't saying bad things to me. All my teammates have said nothing but great things to me."
While the ball-dominant Aldridge initially struggled to fit with San Antonio's pass-heavy system, he did eventually settle in, helping the historic franchise to a 67-win season.
