The Detroit Pistons have claimed guard Beno Udrih off waivers, league sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.
Udrih was waived by the Miami Heat on Saturday after failing to make the 15-man roster.
The Pistons had a clear need at point guard with Reggie Jackson set to miss the beginning of the season recovering from tendinitis in his left knee. Udrih will compete with Ish Smith for minutes at the position.
Udrih shared time between the Heat and Memphis Grizzlies in 2015-16, averaging 4.7 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.6 rebounds on 43.4 percent shooting from the floor and 34.1 percent from deep.
Detroit will open its season on Wednesday against the Toronto Raptors at Air Canada Centre.
