Steve Kerr to coach Western Conference All-Stars
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr and his staff will coach the Western Conference All-Stars in this year's All-Star Game in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center on Feb. 19.
As a result of the Houston Rockets' 127-114 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Monday, the Warriors clinched the best record in the West through games played up until Feb. 5.
The coach of the top team in each conference is given the job, but never two years in a row. Since Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs was the coach for the West in Toronto in 2016, he's ineligible this year.
This is the second time in three years Kerr will be working with the All-Stars, as he was also the coach in 2015 when the exhibition was held in the Big Apple at Madison Square Garden.
Golden State is 38-7 following a gut-wrenching 105-102 loss to the Miami Heat Monday, with Dion Waiters drilling a game-winning 3-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
