Report: Nuggets made 'monster' offer for George, to no avail
At least one team trying to land Paul George has reportedly already been rebuffed, as a "monster" offer by the Denver Nuggets to the Indiana Pacers went nowhere, ESPN's Marc Stein reports.
Part of the lack of traction could be that the Nuggets were told they would have little chance of keeping George in Denver long term, Stein added.
George could hit unrestricted free agency in 2018, but is also eligible to sign an extension this summer.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Boston Celtics, in particular, have been linked to the Pacers' All-Star in recent days, with George's hometown Lakers considered a preferred free-agent destination for the 26-year-old.
While it's not known which players or draft picks were included in Denver's offer, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Kenneth Faried, and Will Barton have all found themselves in trade rumors recently, while sophomore center Nikola Jokic would figure to be untouchable. ESPN's Zach Lowe also added that the Nuggets were hesitant to move rookie guard Jamal Murray.
