LeBron to miss Cavs' preseason opener Wednesday with ankle injury
Cleveland Cavaliers fans will have to wait just a little bit longer before watching their basketball King take the floor for preseason action.
LeBron James won't play Wednesday in the team's preseason opener against the Atlanta Hawks due to a left ankle injury, head coach Tyronn Lue said Monday, according to ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
James turned his ankle during practice last Wednesday, with X-rays coming back negative.
Lue added that James will play at some point during the preseason, just not against Atlanta.
The 32-year-old forward is entering his 15th NBA season, having averaged 26.4 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 8.7 assists on 54.8 percent shooting in 2016-17.
Cleveland opens the regular season Oct. 17 at Quicken Loans Arena against Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics.
