Report: Gary Harris signs 4-year, $84M extension with Nuggets
Gary Harris has struck gold.
The third-year shooting guard has reportedly agreed to a four-year, $84-million extension with the Denver Nuggets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
When Harris' extension begins next summer, he will become the second-highest paid player on the team, behind only 2017 offseason acquisition Paul Millsap.
Harris emerged as a key starter for the Nuggets in 2015-16, averaging 13.4 points, three rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.3 steals per game over the past two seasons.
Players entering the fourth season of their rookie-scale contract have until the start of the 2017 season to sign an extension. Otherwise, they will enter restricted free agency next summer, where their current team maintains the right to match any contract offered by another franchise.
To date, only Harris, Suns wing T.J. Warren, and Raptors wing Norman Powell have agreed to extensions, though 2014 No. 1 pick Andrew Wiggins is expected to ink a maximum $148-million Designated Rookie extension with the Timberwolves before the start of the season.
