Kanter responds to LeBron: 'We already have a king'
A day after the Knicks lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James put an exclamation mark on it by anointing himself king of New York, Enes Kanter couldn't leave well enough alone.
"We already have a king," Kanter said Tuesday, according to ESPN's Ian Begley. "It's Kristaps Porzingis."
James himself pointed out before Tuesday's game that Kanter likes to talk. During Cleveland's 104-101 win, the big man squared off briefly with LeBron, unafraid of repercussions.
"I don't care who you are," Kanter said Tuesday night. "What do you call yourself? King, Queen, Princess. Whatever you are. We're gonna fight."
As far as any Gotham royalty bestowed on Porzingis goes, the 22-year-old has a ways to go before he can claim a throne previously held by the likes of Derek Jeter, Eli Manning, John Starks, or Mark Messier.
