Kawhi returns to full-court practices, in 'last steps' of quad injury rehab
The Claw's season debut is on the horizon.
San Antonio Spurs bench boss Gregg Popovich told Jeff McDonald of the San Antonio Express-News Friday that Kawhi Leonard, who has sat out all season due to a lingering issue in his quadriceps, is traveling with the team on their current two-game road trip.
Popovich also revealed Leonard has already participated in full-court practices and is close to a return to the hardwood, citing similarities in the rehab process with point guard Tony Parker, who also returned from his own quad injury earlier this week.
"Those are the last steps," Popovich said. "That's what Tony did before he came back."
It's unclear when Leonard first suffered the injury, officially deemed tendinopathy in his right quadriceps muscle. News of the ailment first surfaced in late September, however, when the Spurs announced the small forward would miss the entirety of the team's training camp.
