Marvin Bagley III officially declares for 2018 NBA Draft

Duke's fabulous freshman, Marvin Bagley III, made it official Wednesday, as the school announced he's leaving after one college season and entering the 2018 NBA Draft.

"No freshman has done more in his first year than Marvin," head coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. "He's broken every record and he's represented us at the highest level."

Bagley, who doubled as both ACC freshman and player of the year, is expected to be in the conversation for the top selection in the draft.

His lone season with the Blue Devils was statistically the best by a freshman in the illustrious history of the program, as the 6-foot-11, 234-pounder averaged 21 points and 11 rebounds per contest. Bagley also registered four different games with 30 points and 15 rebounds, a mark that only Christian Laettner had hit during Krzyzewski's 37 prior years with the program.

Bagley is the first Duke player to declare for the 2018 draft, but likely won't be the last, as other freshman standouts Wendell Carter Jr., Gary Trent Jr., and Trevon Duval could opt to leave for the professional ranks as well.
