Stephen Curry available to play in Game 2 vs. Pelicans
Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry will be available to return from his knee injury and play in Game 2 against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday, the team announced.
There was some concern the two-time MVP wouldn't play much in the second round after Warriors coach Steve Kerr proclaimed that his star guard was not going to play "anytime soon" on April 22. However, that tone changed a few days later, when a subsequent report suggested Curry was quickly on the mend.
Curry has been sidelined since March 23 with a sprained MCL, which called for a four-to-six-week timeline. His return on Monday would mark five weeks of missed time for the Warriors' most pivotal player.
Golden State was fine in Curry's absence, wrapping up the first round in five games over the San Antonio Spurs before racing out to a 1-0 series lead over New Orleans.
Curry averaged 26.4 points and 6.1 assists this season while shooting 49.5 percent from the field, 42.3 percent from three, and 92.1 percent from the free-throw line.
