Report: Mavericks withdraw McDermott's qualifying offer

The Dallas Mavericks have pulled their qualifying offer for swingman Doug McDermott, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe. They had reportedly extended the offer to him just on Tuesday, according to The Dallas Morning News' Eddie Sefko.

The move would make McDermott an unrestricted free agent, but Lowe reports the Mavs may still want to retain him. Pulling the offer clears the salary cap hold on McDermott, and the Mavericks figure to have ample cap space this summer - with only $60 million in guaranteed contracts on the books for next season.

McDermott was acquired by Dallas in a three-team trade with the Knicks and Nuggets in February. In 26 games with the Mavs, he averaged nine points on 49.4 percent 3-point shooting.
