Booker expected to miss 6 weeks after hand surgery
The Phoenix Suns announced guard Devin Booker is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing successful surgery to repair an injury to the fifth metacarpophalangeal joint in his right hand.
It was reported on Sunday that Booker would miss the start of training camp after surgery to a nagging hand injury that caused him to miss the final 12 games of the previous season.
The updated timeline suggests that Booker won't be available to suit up for the Suns during the preseason or their season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Oct. 17.
Phoenix, lacking perimeter depth on its roster, will be forced to rely on journeymen Troy Daniels and Isaiah Canaan to replace Booker.
The 21-year-old sharpshooter was the Suns' lone bright spot last season, averaging 24.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 4.7 assists in just his third campaign.
