Report: Price 'far too steep' for Suns in potential 3-team trade for Butler

The Phoenix Suns reportedly reached out to the Minnesota Timberwolves to gauge what it would cost to enter a potential three-team trade for Jimmy Butler, but the asking price was "far too steep," league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lacking a starting-caliber point guard, Phoenix was reportedly willing to enter the mix as a potential way to fill their backcourt void.

As of now, there has been reportedly no communication as it pertains to either Jeff Teague heading to the Suns or a Goran Dragic move to Minnesota in a potential multi-team deal.

That could change, however, if the Heat and Timberwolves continue their discussions. Miami has reportedly been the "most engaged" of any team in pursuit of the four-time All-Star swingman.

Butler and his representation have reportedly informed Minnesota's front office that South Beach is his preferred destination. He had previously favored a trade to either the New York Knicks, Los Angeles Clippers, or Brooklyn Nets, but there has been reportedly no traction with either the Clippers or Nets.

Timberwolves training camp is currently underway, and while Butler has been excused from team activities, president and head coach Tom Thibodeau claimed Monday that Butler would rejoin the team in a week if a move had yet to be consummated.
