Report: Suns could target point guard in potential 3-team deal involving Butler
The Phoenix Suns may be willing to be the third team that helps the Minnesota Timberwolves facilitate a trade centered around Jimmy Butler if they can acquire a point guard, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Suns traded Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in late August, leaving them with no starting-caliber point guard on the roster. The team reportedly recently expressed interest in point guard Tyus Jones, who comes off the bench in Minnesota.
The Miami Heat are reportedly aggressively pursuing Butler amid reports they are the disgruntled forward's preferred destination.
Per Wojnarowski, if the Heat ship All-Star guard Goran Dragic to the Timberwolves in a Butler deal, it could make Minnesota's Jeff Teague available for Phoenix in a multi-team trade.
Meanwhile, the Suns are also interested in using Devin Booker as their temporary point guard to give the franchise centerpiece repetitions as the main ball-handler and playmaker. The 6-foot-6 sharpshooter is currently recovering from hand surgery and is expected to miss the start of the campaign.
