Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley was fined $25,000 by the NBA for throwing the ball toward a fan in the team's 114-110 defeat to the Dallas Mavericks on Dec. 2, the league announced Tuesday.
Beverley said that the fan made disrespectful comments about his mother, which spurred his actions.
The 30-year-old was promptly ejected from the game after throwing the ball.
In 23 games this season, Beverley is averaging 6.6 points, 3.8 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per contest.
