Report: Warriors prepared to match any offer sheet for McCaw
The Golden State Warriors remain intent on matching any offer sheet for restricted free agent holdout Patrick McCaw, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
McCaw declined to sign his $1.7-million qualifying offer before the season and turned down a reported two-year, $5.2-million contract from the Warriors with hopes the team would renounce his rights and allow him to sign elsewhere.
There has reportedly been outside interest in the 6-foot-7 guard, but word of the Warriors' intentions has kept teams from offering a contract.
Had McCaw rejoined Golden State over the summer, he would have had the opportunity to become an unrestricted free agent for 2019. His decision to decline all of the Warriors' proposals allows the team to retain the right to match any offer he signs.
The 23-year-old averaged four points in 57 appearances last season.
