Embiid out at least 1 week with knee soreness
Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid will miss at least one week with left knee soreness, the team announced in a statement Wednesday, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps.
The Sixers said an MRI revealed no structural damage in Embiid's knee, and the team will re-evaluate the big man in approximately one week. Embiid's recovery from the injury will include physical treatment and load management, according to the club.
"Evidently, it reached a stage where (Embiid) just felt uncomfortable with it," Sixers head coach Brett Brown told reporters, including Bontemps, following Wednesday's practice. "So he had an MRI on it; there's a little bit of tendinitis. It's stuff that, I think, is quite common, actually."
Brown added that he doesn't believe Embiid's participation in the All-Star Game worsened the injury.
The two-time All-Star is averaging career highs in points (27.3), boards (13.5), and assists (3.5) through 54 games played this season. Embiid is in the first season of a five-year, $147-million contract extension signed in October 2017.
The Sixers also announced that guard Furkan Korkmaz is out indefinitely after suffering a torn meniscus in the club's Feb. 12 loss to the Boston Celtics.
