Raptors' Anunoby remains without timetable for return
OG Anunoby has yet to suit up during the Toronto Raptors' postseason run and his status going forward remains in doubt.
Head coach Nick Nurse told reporters Wednesday that there's no timetable for the forward's return, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg.
While Anunoby is showing signs of progression, he hasn't been cleared for contact, Lewenberg adds.
"He is being more active every day," Nurse said, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. "I think we are getting closer to a point where we're - you know, unpack is the next step for him.
"He's moving pretty good, he's shooting, etc., but still a ways away from being able to take hits and contact in the areas that he needs to test out, I guess."
Anunoby has been out of action since undergoing an emergency appendectomy on the eve of the NBA playoffs. The 21-year-old averaged seven points per contest on 45.3 percent shooting and is one of the Raptors' most versatile defenders.
Norman Powell has been one of the main beneficiaries of Anunoby's absence. The fourth-year guard is averaging 8.1 points and 17.3 minutes across 15 postseason appearances.
Powell's perimeter defense and scoring punch off the bench has increased his role and helped Toronto rally from a 0-2 series deficit against the Milwaukee Bucks. The 25-year-old is averaging 17 points and 4.3 boards over his last three games and is shooting 47.5 percent from the floor, including 40.9 percent from distance.
Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals matchup goes Thursday.
