Even with names dropping like flies from USA Basketball's FIBA World Cup camp roster, it appears the team won't be reaching desperately into its past for talent.

Team USA won't consider Carmelo Anthony for the late-summer tournament in China, sources told Stadium's Shams Charania.

The 35-year-old last played an NBA game in November with the Houston Rockets. He's one of the most decorated national squad players, holding USA Basketball's all-time Olympic scoring and rebounding records, and Anthony has also won three gold medals.

On Friday, New Orleans Pelicans sharpshooter JJ Redick turned down an invite to join Team USA. The day before, Los Angeles Clippers forward Montrezl Harrell reportedly backed out, too. Those decisions followed high-profile abstentions from Anthony Davis, James Harden, and Kevin Love.

Names remaining on the camp list include Kyle Lowry, Kemba Walker, Khris Middleton, Donovan Mitchell, and Andre Drummond.
