Report: Thunder's Patterson intends to join Clippers after buyout
The Oklahoma City Thunder and Patrick Patterson have negotiated a buyout on the final season of the forward's contract, allowing him to become a free agent, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Patterson intends to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers once his $5.7-million salary clears waivers, sources told Wojnarowski.
The Kentucky product has been a massive disappointment since joining the Thunder on a three-year, $16-million contract during the 2017 offseason.
Patterson has averaged just 3.8 points on 38.8 percent shooting across two seasons in Oklahoma City. His role diminished so much that he didn't play during the club's first-round playoff series loss this past season.
The 30-year-old will provide the Clippers with depth at the four-spot behind Montrezl Harrell and JaMychal Green.
