Ex-Laker Shannon Brown accused of firing rifle at couple
Ex-NBAer and current BIG3 player Shannon Brown was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault after being accused of firing a rifle at two people who wanted to tour his home, police spokesman Lt. Philip Nelson confirmed to Chelsea Prince of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The incident occurred last week, and he has since been released from prison after posting bond Monday.
Brown was under the impression that the couple was breaking into his house, which is listed for sale, while the couple claim somebody from within invited them in, Nelson said.
"They stated that they heard a voice acknowledge them and once inside, at some point, Mr. Brown came from upstairs with a rifle and detained them," said Nelson, according to The Associated Press. "Shortly thereafter he let them go and they stated he fired his rifle towards them as they were leaving."
Neither person was injured during the incident.
Brown played nine NBA seasons with eight different clubs. The 34-year-old was known for his acrobatic dunks and won a pair of rings with the Los Angeles Lakers.
