Report: Heat 'determined to move on' from Waiters

Dion Waiters' time with the Miami Heat appears to be approaching a conclusion.

The club is "determined to move on" from Waiters after suspending him for the third time this season, sources told Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

Every option is "on the table" for the Heat, and they'd prefer to keep the eighth-year guard away from the team, Jackson added.

Waiters was suspended on Thursday for six games without pay for failing to adhere to team policies, violating team rules, and continued insubordination.

The Syracuse product has spent the past three seasons in South Beach, where he's averaged 14 points and 3.6 assists per game in mainly a starting role. However, he hasn't played a minute in 2019-20 due to multiple suspensions and the emergence of rookies Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro.

The former fourth overall pick is currently in the third season of a four-year, $52-million contract signed ahead of the 2017-18 season. The Heat are open to buying out the remainder of his deal, but Waiters is opposed to giving up any money that he's owed, reports Jackson.

The 28-year-old has already lost more than $1.4 million in salary due to suspensions and will miss out on a $1.1-million bonus for failing to appear in at least 70 games this season.

Miami (19-7) sits third in the Eastern Conference entering Sunday's slate of games.
