Toronto Raptors center Marc Gasol will be out for a period of weeks due to a left hamstring injury, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Spaniard left in the first quarter of Wednesday's 112-99 win over the Detroit Pistons.

Gasol has started in all of the Raptors' 27 games this season, averaging 6.6 points, 6.6 boards, and 3.4 assists. For the most part, the veteran center hasn't put up splashy numbers, but he continues to be a defensive force against opposing big men.

The 34-year-old leads the Raptors in defensive rating (99.2) and net rating (10.8).

Gasol entered Wednesday's matchup playing arguably his best stretch of basketball this season, recording 10.8 points, 10 boards, four assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.8 blocks per contest over his past four games. Serge Ibaka will likely assume Gasol's starting role while Chris Boucher should slide into the backup slot.

Toronto also lost Norman Powell on Wednesday after he injured his left shoulder in a collision with Pistons star Blake Griffin.

The Raptors (19-8) sit fourth in the Eastern Conference entering Thursday's slate of games.
