Cleveland Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton will replace injured Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro on the U.S. team for the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend in Chicago, the NBA announced Tuesday.
Herro missed Miami's last three games with a sore right ankle. The Kentucky product is averaging 13.1 points and shooting 39.3% from distance.
Sexton is averaging a team-high 19.7 points, 3.2 boards, and 2.6 assists across 53 appearances in 2019-20. The 21-year-old was drafted eighth overall by the Cavs in 2018 and earned NBA All-Rookie second-team honors last season.
The Rising Stars Challenge features 20 of the league's top rookies and sophomores. NBA assistant coaches select 10 players apiece for Team USA and Team World.
