LeBron James might only be in his second season with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he's already planning on making it the final NBA stop of his illustrious career.
"Hey, I've got to keep all my options open, man," James said during his Instagram Live session with fans Thursday. "But right now I'll tell you one thing: I don't want to go nowhere besides be here, baby. Be a Laker for the rest of my life."
James signed a four-year, $153-million contract with the Lakers during the 2018 offseason. However, the deal includes a $41-million player option for 2021-22, which the former No. 1 overall pick can decline to enter an already loaded free-agent class.
Before the 2019-20 NBA campaign was suspended indefinitely, James led the Lakers to the Western Conference's top record and the club's first postseason berth since 2013, ending the longest drought in franchise history.
James averaged 25.7 points, a career-high 10.6 assists, and 7.9 boards across 60 appearances this season. As it currently stands, the four-time MVP would be the second-oldest player behind Steve Nash to win the assists title.
