Report: Mamba Academy potential headquarters for G League 'Select Team'
The NBA and G League are looking into using the Mamba Sports Academy as the headquarters for its new G League "Select Team," sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.
The multisport training facility in Thousand Oaks, California, was launched by the late Kobe Bryant and features five basketball courts along with a technologically advanced recovery department.
High school prep stars Jalen Green and Isaiah Todd recently spurned collegiate offers in favor of the new G League squad.
Both players - along with other recruits considering the G League route - believe they'll be training at the Mamba Academy during the 2020-21 season, reports Haynes.
Green and Todd will reportedly participate in a yearlong developmental program that will include professional coaching and exhibition competitions against G League teams, foreign national clubs, and NBA academies throughout the world.
Bryant famously hosted and trained many pro and collegiate basketball players at the Mamba Academy.
