Zion's former marketing agent files lawsuit, says he was paid to attend Duke

Zion Williamson's former marketing agent, Gina Ford, has filed a lawsuit against the New Orleans Pelicans rookie, asking him to admit he received "money, benefits, favors, or other things of value" to attend Duke and wear Nike or Adidas products, according to documents obtained by gaming law attorney Daniel Wallach.

The request of admissions could lead the No. 1 overall pick to testify under oath in regard to whether or not he accepted benefits from the school, which would be a violation of NCAA rules.

Zion is now represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), who have also been listed as a defendant in the $100-million lawsuit.

Last June, Williamson sued Ford and Prime Sports Marketing to terminate the agreement he signed with them shortly after declaring for the NBA draft.

Zion's camp argued that his contract with Prime Sports was unlawful because the company is not certified by the National Basketball Players Association or a registered athlete agent in North Carolina or Florida.

However, the ex-Duke star's contract with Prime Sports includes a clause that prevents it from being voided for five years. The case is ongoing.
