The NBA G League is canceling the rest of its 2019-20 season, president Shareef Abdur-Rahim announced Thursday.
"While canceling the remainder of our season weighs heavily on us, we recognize that it is the most appropriate action to take for our league," said Abdur-Rahim in a statement. "I extend my sincere gratitude to NBA G League players and coaches for giving their all to their teams and fans this season."
The Wisconsin Herd held the G League's top record at 33-10 when play was halted on March 12. The last day of the regular season was slated to be March 28, with the playoffs scheduled for early April.
Players were informed they would be paid through to the end of the current campaign, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Malika Andrews.
The league plans to announce its end-of-season award winners in the coming weeks.
