The NBA has hired two-time league champion Malik Rose and longtime front-office executive David Booth as its vice presidents of basketball operations, it announced Monday.

Both will begin their newly created roles immediately and report to NBA president Byron Spruell.

"We are delighted to add Malik and David to our talented staff in NBA league operations," Spruell said in a statement. "Their collective wisdom, expertise, and experience at all levels of the game make them ideal choices to expand our connectivity with teams and players and provide valuable input and perspective on a host of basketball-related projects."

Rose and Booth will serve as the NBA's liaisons, communicating league programs, rules, new initiatives, and competitive elements with players and teams.

The 13-year NBA veteran captured a pair of titles with the San Antonio Spurs. Following his playing career, he served as general manager of the G League's Erie Bayhawks and spent the past two seasons as Detroit Pistons assistant GM.

Meanwhile, Booth was the director of player personnel for the New Orleans Pelicans from 2014 to 2019. He also had stints as a scout for the Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.
