The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to sign JR Smith for the remainder of the season, sources told Marc Stein of the New York Times.
Smith last played in the NBA for the Cleveland Cavaliers in November 2018. He'll serve as a replacement for Avery Bradley, who opted out of the NBA return in Florida for personal reasons.
The 34-year-old joins forces once again with former teammate LeBron James. Smith was a key contributor during the Cavaliers' 2016 title run, pouring in 14 3-pointers and scoring double-digit points in each of the last five games of the Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
For his career, Smith is averaging 12.5 points on 37% shooting from beyond the arc.
