Report: Rockets plan to sign Mbah a Moute after Sefolosha opts out
Houston Rockets forward Thabo Sefolosha is opting out of the NBA's restart, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Rockets plan to sign forward Luc Mbah a Moute to replace Sefolosha, reports The Athletic's Shams Charania, citing sources.
Sefolosha appeared in 41 games for the Rockets this season, averaging 2.2 points in a limited role. The 14-year veteran will forfeit approximately $230,000 in salary by sitting out.
Mbah a Moute has some familiarity with Houston after spending the 2017-18 campaign with the club. He averaged 7.5 points on 48.1% shooting and made 15 starts during his one-year Rockets tenure.
Brooklyn Nets forward Wilson Chandler, Washington Wizards sharpshooter Davis Bertans, Portland Trail Blazers wing Trevor Ariza, and Los Angeles Lakers guard Avery Bradley are among the other notable players who have elected not to participate in Orlando.
Over the years, Sefolosha's built a reputation for solid perimeter defense. In 2010, he was named to the NBA's All-Defensive second team.
Each of the 22 teams competing in Orlando must submit a list including their entire traveling party to the NBA by the end of the day Wednesday.
