Rockets' D'Antoni: Westbrook 'in pretty good shape'
Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook has yet to arrive in Orlando after recently testing positive for COVID-19, but head coach Mike D'Antoni says he's on the right track.
"I do hear that he's in pretty good shape and has been ramping up (training), so hopefully it's fairly seamless, with some precaution, obviously," D'Antoni told reporters Sunday, according to The Athletic's Alykhan Bijani.
D'Antoni added: "(Medical staff) will determine when Russell is ready to go, or when he's ready to play 20 or 30 minutes."
Westbrook said he was "feeling well" when he disclosed his positive COVID-19 test result on social media last week.
The nine-time All-Star has had a strong debut season in Houston, averaging 27.5 points on a career-high 47.4% shooting to go along with eight boards and seven assists per contest. He ranks fourth in the Association with eight triple-doubles and has led the NBA in that department in each of the previous five seasons.
The Rockets haven't had a full complement of players since arriving in the campus environment. All-Star guard James Harden entered the bubble Tuesday due to some "family issues," while newly signed forward Luc Mbah a Moute hasn't joined the team.
