Hawks trade Dedmon to Pistons for Snell, Thomas
The Detroit Pistons acquired center Dewayne Dedmon from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for wing Tony Snell and guard Khyri Thomas, the Pistons announced Friday.
Dedmon split last season between Atlanta and the Sacramento Kings. He averaged 5.8 points and 5.7 rebounds across 44 combined appearances. The 7-foot center has two years and $26.6 million remaining on his deal, though the final year is only partially guaranteed.
Snell registered eight points per contest and shot 40.2% from distance during his lone season in the Motor City. The 29-year-old will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2020-21 campaign.
Atlanta will waive Thomas, according to Sarah K. Spencer of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Thomas has only made 34 appearances over the past two seasons. The Philadelphia 76ers drafted him 38th overall in 2018.
