Ibaka confirms Raptors exit, thanks fans: 'I am one of yours forever'

Serge Ibaka thanked the Toronto Raptors organization and its fans on social media Sunday, confirming the end of his four-and-a-half-year stint with the franchise as he reportedly prepares to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers.

"How to explain what Toronto, Canada, and the Raptors mean to me? I was welcomed to a new country and a new team more than three years ago and I felt at home from day one," the 31-year-old forward said on Instagram. "I feel really blessed to have played for this city, these fans, and this organization. The love I have received during this journey I will never forget.

"I want to thank Larry Tanenbaum and MLSE and the whole Toronto Raptors organization. It is really a great organization that takes care of its players and I'm thankful that I became an NBA Champion with them. I've had great teammates, front office, and staff next to me. And of course, a fan base that is second to none. So thank you Toronto. Thank you, Canada. And thank you Raptors. I am one of yours forever."

Toronto acquired Ibaka from the Orlando Magic in 2017, sending shooting guard Terrence Ross and a first-round pick the other way. Ibaka averaged 14.2 points and 7.4 rebounds with 35.6% 3-point shooting in 228 regular-season games with the Raptors.

The 31-year-old also played a crucial role in the franchise's first NBA championship in 2019 despite moving to a reserve role that season.

Ibaka reportedly agreed to a two-year, $19 million deal with the Clippers, reuniting him with former teammate Kawhi Leonard.
