Golden State Warriors swingman Kelly Oubre didn't mince words when asked to compare his new club's ownership to his previous NBA stops, and specifically Phoenix Suns governor Robert Sarver.
"I can play for an owner - somebody who actually cares about the organization and not just the perception of the organization on the media end of it," Oubre said Monday during an appearance on "Damon, Ratto, and Kolsky" on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco. "It's all about the foundation for me. (If) you have a beautiful foundation, you can build a beautiful (future) as Golden State has done."
Sarver has been criticized over the years for failing to invest in the Suns to make them successful.
Phoenix acquired Oubre from the Washington Wizards midway through the 2018-19 campaign. The 6-foot-7 forward played the best basketball of his career in the desert, averaging 17.9 points, 5.8 boards, and 1.3 steals in parts of two seasons with the Suns.
Oubre was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder this offseason in the Chris Paul blockbuster deal and subsequently flipped to the Warriors.
The move will cost Golden State $68 million in taxes, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.
