KD was anxious for Nets debut: I 'visualized' this for so long
Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant suited up in his first NBA contest on Sunday since rupturing his Achilles in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
The 10-time All-Star joined the Nets through a sign-and-trade deal last year, and he's been looking forward to the next chapter of his career ever since.
"I visualized this moment for so long. Nine, 10 months of just thinking about how it would be. ... I felt like I was just chomping at the bit. Especially once COVID hit, I was just so frustrated because I didn't see when the season was going to start," Durant said after the Nets' 119-114 preseason win over the Washington Wizards, according to SNY.
He flashed signs of his former self in his Nets debut. Less than a minute into the contest, the 6-foot-10 forward drove past a defender along the baseline before throwing down a two-handed slam.
The two-time NBA Finals MVP also showed some early chemistry with Nets guard Kyrie Irving. Midway through the second quarter, the floor general hit Durant in stride with a full-court outlet pass.
Durant was impressed with his new running mate during their limited time on the court together.
"Kyrie looked incredible," Durant said, according to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto. "He's unstoppable. He's a master at his craft. He can pretty much do whatever he wants out on the floor."
Durant finished with 15 points, three boards, three assists, and two blocks in 24 minutes of play.
