Clippers acquire Rajon Rondo from Hawks for Lou Williams
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired veteran guard Rajon Rondo from the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for Lou Williams, the Clippers announced Thursday.
The Clippers also sent two future second-round picks in the deal.
Rondo gives the Clippers some additional leadership and playmaking. Los Angeles ranks 19th in the Association with 24.3 assists per game.
Atlanta inked the two-time NBA champ to a two-year, $15-million contract this past offseason. The four-time All-Star struggled during his brief time with the Hawks, averaging career lows in points (3.9 per game) and assists (3.5) over 27 appearances in 2020-21.
Williams, a three-time Sixth Man of the Year winner, remains an effective scorer off the bench. The 34-year-old is averaging 12.1 points and shooting a career-high 37.8% from deep.
Williams played for his hometown Hawks from 2012-14.
