The NBA has suspended Indiana Pacers forward JaKarr Sampson one game for headbutting San Antonio Spurs veteran Patty Mills during Monday's contest in Indianapolis, the league announced Wednesday.
The league fined Mills $25,000 for his role in the altercation and docked Spurs teammate Rudy Gay $20,000 for shoving Sampson during the incident at the 9:32 mark of the fourth quarter of San Antonio's 109-94 victory.
Sampson was called for a flagrant-2 foul and subsequently ejected after he shoved and then headbutted Mills during the on-court melee. Mills and Gay both received technical fouls.
Sampson, 28, will serve his suspension without pay Wednesday when the Pacers welcome the Oklahoma City Thunder to Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
